We depart Muscat to Nizwa, the old capital of Oman. Visit the famous Nizwa Fortress. Today, the fort is a museum that showcases the history of the fort and the surrounding area. Walking through the fortress you get to see amazing views of the ancient town and the nearby mountains. This impressive fortress was a base used in the military to hold off the hardest attacks and sieges. Next to the fortress is the large Nizwa Souq, a local marketplace that offers a variety of goods including jewellery, pottery, fish, and meats. The list goes on!After we drive to the foot of Jebel Akhdar, an old village called Birkat Al Mauz, then after visit the Irrigation System of Al Kattmyn, one of the 5 irrigation systems heritage by UNESCO. From there we go up to Jebel Akhdar. Also known as the Green Mountain, Jebel Akhdar houses many fruit plantations and rose gardens. Take the time to walk through the hills and cherish the valley views. There is a lot Jebel Akhdar has to offer, then drive back to Muscat.
